Staff Development

How you learn and grow

Novantas focuses its formal development programs on advancing the profession’s consulting skill and industry expertise. Each new class of associates attends formal skills development classes during their first month with the Firm, followed by a year of continuous education modules covering specific techniques in financial analysis and consulting tools usage. Associate-level learning emphasizes building the core capabilities to be a successful analyst and business problem solver, while programs for more senior consultants focus on writing, presentation skills, management techniques, client relationship development, and team leadership.

But don’t be misled — we believe that the best leaders in consulting are not made in the classroom, but through apprenticeships with leaders of the industry. Consulting skills are best acquired through on-the-job application. Novantas manages staffing assignments so as to balance the needs of the business with those of the individual. We recognize and are sensitive to tradeoffs between depth and diversity of experience, and attempt to place each Associate in projects and roles that ensure that both occur in sufficient measure.

Associates are assigned mentors within both the professional staff and senior leadership levels. The Novantas Mentor Program provides a communication channel separate from the project work structure, allowing staff to discuss their development and performance with seasoned, independent advocates who have been in their shoes.
