Annetta Cortez Joins Novantas; Risk Management Expert Will Focus on Retail and Commercial Banking

NEW YORK – Novantas LLC, the leading provider of management consultancy and information services to the financial services industries, today announced the addition of Annetta Cortez, an international expert in risk management and capital management. Most recently she led her own firm, ACT Consulting, in advising many of the major banks in Australia, Asia, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Formerly a Principal at Oliver Wyman Group, Cortez also played a leadership role at the KPMG Barents Group, where she initially led the international practice for risk and performance management, and later led the Asia-Pacific practices in enterprise solutions and financial institutions. She has delivered numerous engagements in all areas of risk management and capital management, serving large corporations, financial institutions, governments and regulatory authorities throughout the world.

“Annetta Cortez has a keen understanding of risk and capital management and her leadership will be invaluable to our U.S. and international clients, especially in light of current market conditions,” said Dave Kaytes, a Managing Director at Novantas.

An engineer by training, Cortez has particular expertise in the areas of risk-based pricing, operational streamlining, analytical decision-making based on concepts such as shareholder value-added (SVA) and risk-adjusted return on capital (RAROC), and capital-based enterprise strategies.

Cortez earned an MBA in Finance, Strategic Management and International Management from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, based in Philadelphia. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Rochester, New York.
