About the Speaker: Annetta Cortez
Annetta is a Managing Director with Novantas and is the author of the recently published Idiot’s Guide to Risk Management.
She is an experienced thought leader in the area of Risk and Capital Management. Before joining Novantas, she managed her own firm, ACT Consulting, specializing in Risk and Capital related matters in the Financial Services industry. Her client base included many of the major banks in Australia, Asia, UK and the U.S. Previously she was a principal at Oliver Wyman and a senior partner at KPMG-Barents Group. In that capacity Annetta lead the international practice for Risk and Performance Management and later the Asia-Pacific Enterprise Solutions and Financial Institutions practices.
Annetta has delivered numerous risk management engagements across all segments of risk and capital management to large corporations, financial institutions, governments, and regulatory authorities throughout the world, including those in Australia, Asia, Latin America, U.S., and UK.
Her specific focus and key areas of experience has been on leveraging business value through risk and capital-based approaches (e.g. risk-based pricing, operational stream-lining, RAROC/SVA etc.) and capital based enterprise strategies.
As an engineer, her previous experience included business and line management specializing in process and operations management and optimization, including six sigma, ISO 9000, and statistical process control techniques.
Annetta holds an M.B.A in Finance, Strategic Management, and International Management from the Wharton School of Business as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Rochester.
